The Chinese communities in China Town Yaowarat are one of the oldest Oversea Chinese communities in the world. The history of China Town can be traced as far back as the early Rattanakosin period, since the establishment of Bangkok. China town is a place where the history of Thais of Chinese descent began, the place where business and commercial activities of Thai- Chinese descendants took place. many generations of Chinese have started out their family business at this place. Thought the process of time, these small businesses have grow into large businesses that we can now witness today. Simply put, they have become one of the main roots of the Thai economy.
Through the process of time, there have been no conflicts between the Chinese or Thai-Chinese descendants and the Thai population. There was no discrimination or racism of any kind, as we have seen in many countries, in many parts of the world. The peacefulness and the lack of racial discrimination are owed solely to the monarchy. In this respect, the Chinese have felt that they have always been part of Thai society and are proud to be Thai citizens. In turn, the Chinese felt that they have pay back this gratitude and the mercies that were shown to them.
